| EMERGENCE extends in to Asia | (see also: Asian EMERGENCE project pages) |
Dr Sununta Siengthai, Associate Professor at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok, gave a fascinating picture of the development of call centres and other forms of eWork in Thailand to the EMERGENCE partners and subcontractors at their meeting in Rome in November.

  |
Together with EMERGENCE partners in Europe and Australia, and associates at the Indian Institute of Management, Dr Siengthai has developed a proposal to extend EMERGENCEs work in Asia through case studies. With research experience throughout Asia, as well as in the United States, she is exceptionally well placed to overview eWork in Asia, and identify the relative positions of individual Asian countries in the new global division of information work. Asian and European researchers will compare the results of case
studies in both regions at the International Conference On Globalization, Innovation and Human Resource Development For Competitive Advantage, to be held in Bangkok from 17 to 19 December 2002. This conference has been organised by AIT and a distinguished panel of researchers from around the world. |
