The Institute for Employment Studies, an apolitical, non-profit making institution with charitable status, is the largest independent labour market research institute in the UK and an international centre for research and consultancy in human resource issues. Working closely as the IES does with employers in manufacturing, service and public sectors, government departments, agencies, professional and employee bodies, it has become a focus of knowledge and practical experience in employment and training policy, the operation of labour markets and human resource planning and development. The IES is committed to help bring about sustainable improvements in employment policy and human resource management and disseminates its expertise through research, consultancy and publications.
