This project is funded as an Accompanying Measure under the Information Society Technologies (IST) Programme of the European Commission’s Fifth Framework.

In addition to the many individuals and organisations who have donated personal time to participation in the EMERGENCE project, the following organisations have sponsored the work.

Additional funding has been granted by the Austrian Government and the following Austrian sponsors for supplementary projects in Europe:

The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Culture
(Minoritenplatz 5, A 1010 Wien; www.bmbwk.gv.at) is co-funding the Austrian participation in EMERGENCE (Euro 75.340).

The Federal Ministry of Economy and Labour
(Stubenring 1, A 1010 Wien; www.bmwa.gv.at) is funding a series of additional case studies in Austria (Euro 44.700).

Our Danish sponsor is HK Service (the Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark). They are funding an extension of the survey in Denmark of 100 SMEs in the knowledge sector, and a report of the picture in Denmark using the data from both the original survey and the supplementary survey of SMEs.

In Ireland, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment has funded an extension survey of 100 Irish SMEs in the knowledge sector. A report based on these new data and the original survey is currently being produced.

We are pleased to have received the support of the National Bank of Hungary, in hosting our ‘Where in the World?’ conference.

The following Australian government departments are already participating:

Department of Transport and Regional Services
is funding the CATI survey and case study support (AUS$65,000).

Department of Industry, Science and Resources
is funding international travel and other support (AUS$48,000).

We also value the support of the following Australian universities:

Edith Cowan University is funding Dr Peter Standen’s time and local travel

Curtin University is funding Dr Jan Sinclair-Jones’ time.

In Canada:

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada President’s Fund for Innovation (350 Albert St., Box 1610, Ottawa, Ontario Canada K1P 6G4, www.sshrc.ca/english/index.html) has provided CAN$253,000 to go towards the Canadian case studies.

the Fund for Scientific Research-Flanders (FWO), and:

European Trade Union Confederation

Belgian Telework Association

Centre Informatique pour la Région Bruxelloise

European Trade Union Confederation, CEVORA

Discussion is also currently taking place with a number of other potential sponsors in North America and the Asia Pacific region for funding for research outside the EU.
