Regional Development Strategy Based on eWork |

The local and the globalLocation is still a vital ingredient in a modern, knowledge-based economy. The differences between places are becoming, if anything, more rather than less, important. They depend upon how local assets (both existing and latent) are perceived and developed, and on government and enterprises thinking and acting both locally and globally at the same time. Locally because the vital assets like people and institutions largely remain local, and globally because competition, trade and investment now take place on an increasingly global scale. It is, in fact, new types of interplay between the local and the global, including the role of ICT in this, which make up the ingredients of the new regional agenda. Preparing and implementing a regional development strategy incorporating eWork will help regions directly address this agenda as it affects them. It will provide an overview of the issues and opportunities the region faces as it works towards the generation of a self-sustaining society and economy. | |||||
